Streaming Video

How can I get a movie to be "streaming"? I saved it from
my movie program as a "streaming" format, but when I go
to the website, it wants to download the whole thing
before it starts playing?

Also, it downloads without opening a media program. Can
I instruct the user's computer to open a media program to
play the video instead of it just playing in the browser
window?

Thanks.

It depends on the movie format, each has there own method for streaming. To learn more about
streaming you visit the web site for the specific format:

Windows Media
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/distribute.aspx

Real Media
http://www.realnetworks.com

Apple QuickTime
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

I had the same problem Kat and I was told that because the .avi files are so
BIG I either had to use a server that has "streaming" capability or convert
my movies (.avi or .wmv or .mov or whatever) into flash. There are numerous
software packages that can do that and most of them are reasonably priced.
Seemed to me the way to go since most everybody has a flash player. But I
haven't done it yet or I'd show you.

Several people gave me recommendations for one but I don't know if it
violates the newsgroup's rules to post it. So if you want it, email me and
I'll send it to you.

Hope this helps and good luck ... Gail Miller
