Strange Symbol in Design view

I must have clicked on something in Front Page because every new web that I
open now has these backwards looking P's on it in "design view". I never
used to have these but now, every time I click on enter or type in anything,
it produces one of these backward P's after the text. Is there any way to
get rid of them? It's hard to see the cursor when it's alongside one of those.

Do you mean the Paragraph/Carriage return symbol?

That a non-printing character for paragraph. Look on your toolbar for that
symbol and click it. (Some of us wouldn't dream of working with it showing.)

I need it!...i'd forgotten how to turn it off though...I may have given
incorrect advice above.

That was it JoAnn.......sometimes things are so obvious that they are
overlooked. Thanks much for your help.

If you leave this on all the time, it must serve as some advantage to you so
I am curious as to what it is.

You can see hard (<p>) vs soft (<br>) crlf, and more importantly any server or client side code insertions

Thanks Stefan.....I can see where it displays a little J to indicate that
there is a "javascript" in a location on the page
