Strange scroll wheel behavior

Suddenly, using my scroll wheel in Excel moves the cursor
left and right instead of up and down. Any reason why?
How do I get it back to scrolling up and down?!

If you do not have the vertical scrollbar displayed this will happen.
Tools, Options, View, Vertical Scroll Bar.
