Strange RAM Problem

Hello Folks.

I'm testing my two SDR DIMMs (PC2700/512)with MemTest86
because most of the stop errors are pointing to the
memory. ALL my video & audio cards and anything else are
all updated with new drivers.

What I find strange is when I test each DIMM in socket 1
there are no "Test 4" errors. When I test them together
using sockets 1 & 2 and get errors.

I tested them both together with DIMM 1 in socket 1, DIMM
2 in socket 2, then tested both DIMMs again in reverse.
Both tests got errors.

This is driving me crazy. Is it possible that socket 2
may be damaged and not the DIMMs. My PC/ASUS P4S8X-X
Motherboard is only 4 months old. Yes... I would have
taken it back, problem is that the people who built my P4
306 went outta biz, Damn.

Sooooo, does anyone have some suggestions for me on this
problem. Thanks ever so much!!!

Try a single DIMM in socket 2 by itself.

The computer should still detect and use the RAM.

If a given DIMM has problems when it is in socket 2 by itself but not
when it is in socket 1 by itself then the problem is with the sockect
or the the connections to it.

Good luck
