Strange Powerpoint Printing Issue

P

Paul Walker

Ok we have Powerpoint 2002. We have a master slide design which has a
footer in the bottom left hand corner (company name). Slide is black
apeart from white company name. When printing to a colour Canon
printer the bottom of the slide gets cut off. You get the top half of
the company name.

When you inset an image you get the image moved to the right and down
in the slide.

I have tried every possible thing I can think of. Paper sizes, shrink
to fit, replace printer driver. Set all paper sizes the same. Set to
small paper size B5, custom paper size the same as the powerpoint
slide size. Every change does not affect the issue.

Any ideas.

Two things to try

Remove printer driver and try a 'standard low tech' printer driver provided
in a general windows installation (if a driver exists)

Or

Download the latest driver from canon for your printer model and give that a
whirl.

I had a Canon printer several years ago, and it chopped off the bottom of Web
pages when I printed them. I'd lose the last line or two of text. It sounds
like it's a specific issue with the printer. You may want to visit their
site and see if it's covered under the technical help.

Ok,

The printer is a multifunctional Canon colour photocopier with a print
board installed. The drivers on the website are either Postscript or
PCL 5c.

The PCL drivers wont even install so I am using the Postscript driver.
This has been replaced with download from Canon. Makes no difference
still have the issue.

The outstanding feature of this problem is no matter what changes I
have made the problem remain exactly the same. It looks as if the
printer does not 'understand' what constitutes the contents of the
slide and cuts off the bottom while images which are placed to the
extreme right of the slide end up being printed about 1/4 inch to the
right and slightly down.

Print preview is perfect.

Linda,

This problem has only arisen in the last week. Before that
presentations were being printed happily all the time no problem.

Nothing has changed in the setup.

Verify that you're choosing the Fit To Page option in the Print dialog when
printing.

Originally this was set to 'On Screen show'. I have tried A4 and B5
and all produce the same issue.

If you print off a A4 sheet with 2 slides you get two black line boxes
with the slides off centre. .

To answer another poster yes I have tried the 'Scale to fit paper' in
printing properties.
