Strange Marks Appear in Header / Footer

Hi!

I'm using MS Word 2003. Recently strange marks having begun to appear in my
header and footer. Which looks as shown below:
These marks do not print. However, I wish to get rid off them. I've tried
most of the options in the View menu and the Tools Options View tab but to no
avail. Can anybody help me turn them off?
