Just installed a fresh copy of 2000 pro on a fresh foratted NTFS 12gb disk wich went smoothly no probs.
But shortly after installation It compleatly locked up, Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work. I restarted and the Os didn't even scan the disk for errors, event viewer shows nothing what so ever hense there is aparently no reason for the lock up. I have noticed that in some cases there comes somekind of smudge on the screen when it locks up like the videocard(S3 inc. Savage4) is tripping.
Any ideas people

p.s
This computer meets all minimum requirements for Win 2000pr
P3-500mhz / 128mb ram / 12gb hd / 16mb Videocard ect.

So people I have to answer my self.
S3 cards have always been a thorn in my side and I got reminded why.
On installing win2000 I used the /checkupgradeonly switch and It said nothing was incompatable only to waste my time in searching for a reason why the CPU locked up all of a sudden.

Yes, removing the S3 Savage 4 card was the soulution. My opinion, don't ever buy S3 cards thus saving 3 days of troubleshooting your PC.
