strange IE errors. HELP!

my internet explorer will no longer work..
it gives me an "Page cannot be displayed" error
message and says "incorrect error page" on the top
bar.
any site i try gives me the same problem, no matter
what site. the rest of my programs work online fine, i
can run MSN messanger, and other online programs,
but i cant browse the web without my IE..

it started this afternoon after i ran a spyware serch
program and got it to delete whatever it found.
afterwords it asked to restart my computer and i let it.
since then i've been getting these IE errors, where it
worked fine beforehand.
what did i do, and how can i fix it? x.x

if you have a good spyware program such as spybot or
ad-aware,,, they keep backup copys, try in there for a lost
file of goodness. or go to mozilla.org and get firefox
and use ie for updates.
also to fix ie do a windows update, should recognize and
fix error.maybe

it was a freeware spyware-search program and didnt
have any backups of any sort that i could find.

and i cant do a windows update, because that just
tries to open a webpage.. ANYTHING that requires
internet explorer is not an option, as i CANT get it work.
unfortunatly this rules downloads and updates.
without IE i cant check any of those sites (on my pc, on
this imac i could, but i woudlent be able to transfer the
files.)
