strange cursor

my cursor has become an hourglass flashing red "loading" I've shut down and
unplugged the xp overnight, but I still have the "loading" hourglass. I've
gone back and "restored" the computer, but no help!

Anyone have a suggestion?

Control pannel mouse and click the pointers tab try changing the scheme or
pointer
