Strange Corruption

I send an email that has the following text as its subject (all on one
line):

qx|o1|st||md|
3SK74HAJ3D72CJT762,SJT986HTDAQ653C94,SAQHQ9642DT98CA85,S532HK875DKJ4CKQ3|
sv|-|pg||

When it arrives in my outlook client it looks like this (on two
separate lines):

qx|o1|st||md|
3SK74HAJ3D72CJT762,SJT986HTDAQ653C94,SAQHQ9642DT98CA85,S532
qx|o1|st||md|HK875DKJ4CKQ3|sv|-|pg||

A further strangeness, when the same text is sent from outlook to
outlook it arrives like this (three lines):

qx|o1|st||md|
3SK74HAJ3D72CJT762,SJT986HTDAQ653C94,SAQHQ9642DT98CA85,S532
qx|o1|st||md|HK87
5DKJ4CKQ3|sv|-|pg||

Any ideas what is happening here?

The same text when sent to web-based gmail comes through correctly.

where are you seeing the 2 and 3 line subjects? it sounds like the line is
getting broken because its too long for the format.

Thanks the line being broken isnt the problem it is the repetition of
the first 13 characters from the first line on the second line that is
a problem.

This is surely a bug in outlook.

The bug does not show up when i choose to display as plain text but I
can't think of why html or whatever would misrepresent the text that
has been sent.

is this happening in the subject or message body?

I can't repro it in the subject, but I can in the message body... in plain
text format back and forth with my gmail acct. (I didn't try HTML format.)
It's correct in gmail (using IE) and goofy in Outlook on replies.

It's something to do with the qx|o1|st||md| in the beginning if I "comment
out" the line by adding ' to the beginning, its fine. If I press enter after
the last | its fine. If I remove all the |, its fine. if I leave the |
following the md, the section in front of the | repeats.

My guess is that something in that section is used by uuencode or scripts -
similar to the "begin bug".

I've got another problem in gmail on the same project.

Lines that begin with contiguous spaces are not being displayed
correctly in gmail.

I put a post on the gmail help group but it hasnt been responded to.

At the beginning of the line:

if there is one space it is displayed correctly;

if there is more than one space then one of the spaces vanishes.

This problem is in gmail the same email displays correctly in Outlook.

well, on the space problem, quite frequently HTML rendering will not show
extra spaces, unless hardcoded in the HTML.
