strange behaviour of USB joystick

After installation of the mapping software (including driver updates) for my
Saitek X45 joystick, x and y axis of the stick will not function properly in
any program.
The register values for both axes will jump from 0 to 32k to 64k. Strangely
control panel gives a normal view in the test window.

Already uninstalled software and rolled back the drivers. It all didn't help.

I'm afraid the driver update corrupted some registry settings. Is there any
way to get rid of this problem, besides reinstalling the OS.

well, your system could not
handle the equipment and you
basically want to ensure that
your o.s. didn't get corrupted
you can try via the run command

sfc /scannow

----------------

registries do get corrupted, but
it is unclear if you actually have
a problem with yours.

basically, removing the hardware,
drivers and any specialty software
is sufficient to keep your
o.s. functional - unless the specialty
software and drivers are corrupted
or trojans.

there is more info here:

Tried it, but unfortunately it didn't help.
SFC did not find any strange things
Status is unchanged: all joystick buttons and sliders are working perfectly,
exept X and Y axis.

Hope there is still someone who has experienced this before and knows how to
solve it.
