Strange Behavior After Clean Install

I did a clean install of XP Home SP1 from the system disc supplied with the
Dell computer. I've done many of these before without any issues, but not on
this particular computer.

When completed, I couldn't adjust the monitor settings, and the monitor
control panel wouldn't allow me to search & install the correct driver; it
was stuck on 'default'. It wouldn't detect USB devices as I attached them.
When I tried to access the drivers on the Dell CDs, none would be detected
(although the documentation contained on them were seen).

I tried another clean install in case I made a mistake the first time, but
it came out the same way. It's almost as if the computer was starting in safe
mode.

Everyone can disregard. The monitor image was huge because of the generic
'default' setting, but on a hunch I was able to get it moved enough to see an
install button when the Dell driver CD was open. That took care of it.

Try to move the dialog screen or shrink it, and you'll be able to see the
install button.
