strange annoying sound

When certain programs accessed i.e.msn, google, etc an annoying sound similar to that of a mooing cow comes on. Any idea how it got there and how to get rid of it?
 
Go into Control Panel > Sounds and disassociate the moo sound.

If you bought a Gateway PC and still have the carton it came in (the one
with the black and white spots) look in the box for tiny holstein.

Could it be your CD rom drive running?
