Peter

When I right click a desktop Icon I now see two options above "Open" ...
namely "Save desktop icons" and Restore desktop icons" why has this
suddenly appeared and how do I get rid of it?

Peter,

Depends on where you right-click. If it's for shortcuts (.LNK files), the context items are stored in this registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
or
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile

And what software have you installed lately?

Thanks Ramesh, it turned out I had clicked a wrong setting in Hydravision.
