Storing emails off the Exchange Server

My corporation isn't going to allow PST folders anymore. Emails will
automatically be deleted from the server after 6 months, though MIS will
retain archives that we can access with some trouble or effort. I can save
email in Outlook format in My Documents and subfolders. Question is, when I
open these later (after the policy is in effect), because the Outlook
application opens them the corporate Exchange Server isn't going to grab the
"stored off site message just opened", date check it and grab it from my PC,
is it?
 
No, it doesn't work that way. Note that your method is only a workaround for
the policy and thus not a solution. Contact your employer on what you have
to do with messages that have to be kept for longer than 6 months.
