Stopping background tasks from running temporarily

I am trying to record DVDs from VHS tapes and would like to temorarily turn
off programs that run in the background while doing that. Is there a simple
way? As an example, sometimes the computer is running slowly & I find out
something like backup is running in the background. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Simple? No. Either exit the task from the system tray (if the option exists)
or use Task Manager to kill unnecessary processes.
