Stopped receiving alerts!

I have windows mssgr. 4.7.For some reason I have stopped receiving new mail
message alerts, both audio and visual..I have checked the options and
preferences and they appear to be set correctly.In addition my log on
page(when I start up the windows xp )doesn't update the"unread mail
message"count.It seems the only way to receive the alerts(and an up to date
count) is to sign off and then sign on to win mssgr again.DOES ANYONE KNOW
HOW TO RESOLVE THIS?

You are not alone. It appears to be a problem with a lot
of people, myself included. And for 2 weeks now, I
haven't been able to get it resolved. I emailed MSN
support back and forth for a week and they finally told
me they couldn't help me. I also have everything set up
correctly... who knows what happened. I believe it is an
MSN problem and they won't admit it!

A lot of us have been having this. It has nothing to do
with version of messenger or our computers. It has to do
with our actual hotmail accounts. I bet you if you try a
different passport on your computer it'll work fine.

I stopped receive new alerts more than a week ago and I
am very frustrated that not only has a solution not been
found, but a diognosis has not even been offered.

Thank goodness it's not just me.Although I'm sorry there are others
experiencing this problem at least I can stop banging my head against the
wall trying to correct it and just wait it out with everyone else.Thanks for
the reply.B.G.
