Hello,

I just installed XP Pro. When I press ctrl-f to search for a file in
my computer, (my firewall zone alarm reports that) explorer is
attempting to access the internet.

I have no wish for explorer to access or search the ww internet when
I'm trying to search for a file in my own personal computer.

How do I stop explorer from doing this?

Slightly annoyed!

I forgot to mention that I'm using XP Pro with all the critical
updates and patches done. I'm running a P4 system.

Hi,

Search Assistant will try to connect to http://sa.windows.com. This is done
to check for updates to its features, tips, wording and etc. Not allowing
access can cause its own set of problems, usually a "A file that is
required........." error message.

You can stop the internet access by changing the search behavior to Classic
Search.

Disable Search Assistant (Line 15)

Old Style Search Engine On/Off (Line 49)

Or...

Use TweakUI, Explorer Section to set Classic Search:
