Stop XP CD Writer

Hi,

Whenever I want to burn data to a CD, XP Pro SP2 tries to take over with
its inbuilt writer app. I have third-party apps to do this and I don't
want XP to do it. It causes a long delay before XP times-out. Can I
remove this XP feature?

(The main problem is if I forget and send some files to the CD drive and
don't burn them with XP. Every time I login XP asks me if I want to burn
the files. I don't know how to make XP 'forget' that it has files to
burn.)

Thanks,

Open My Computer, right click the CD drive, click Properties.
Click the Recording tab, uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive".

Disable it in services.msc Start\Run\services.msc and disable the IMAPI CD Burning

Here are my current settings.
XP Pro SP2 with Nero Ultra 6.6.0.16
"Enable CD recording on this drive" (unchecked)
"IMAPI service" (Manual)
So far I have not noticed any CD burning problems, but you are saying I
should change IMAPI service to (Disable)? Will that interfere with Nero or
InCD? In my case, XP never tries to use its own writer.

Disable it in services.msc Start\Run\services.msc and disable the IMAPI CD
Burning
