Stop Word from looking for a printer when do autosave.

While doing a letter I keep getting a hang in Word while working about the
time I would expect an autosave to happen. But in the notice bar on the
bottom left it says finding printer. I use a USB printer which is turned off
and disconnected most of the time. I found the option to turn off print in
the background. It is turned off. I closed and reopened Word. Yet this
action persists. I don't want to turn off autosave but if this is a function
of that feature I would say it is unwanted by more than it would be wanted.
I'll print when I am done.

Two points
1. There is no 'autosave' in Word - only autorecovery - see
http://www.gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm
2. Check that your printer driver is correctly installed and that the
disconnected printer is set as default printer for Windows. Word *requires*
an active printer driver in order to format the document. The printer
hardware does not have to be present.
