Stop update of fields when switching to print layout

I have several fields in my document and for different reasons, I wish to be
in complete control of when the fields are updated. Therefore I have
unchecked the "Update Fields" in the Print Options, but nevertheless, when I
switch from View Normal mode to View Print Layout, the fields get updated. I
can of course simple undo the update fields action; however, I am not
confident that I will remember this at all times.

Does anyone have a solution for me?

I'm afraid there isn't much you can do, besides locking the fields. For
