Microsoft sure shows a complete and total disregard for their users.

I can put up with a lot of evil things, but when I come back to my box
and see a Windows pop-up ticking down from five minutes, saying that it
WILL reboot (not asking), I must ask myself WTF is going on.

Hello? I might have tons of work going on. I want to reboot whenever
the hell I FEEL like rebooting -- not when you have automatically
downloaded and installed your malware-ish updates.

GAH!

At a command prompt issue:

net stop wuauserv

You can change your Windows Update Group Policy settings to change
the auto-reboot/auto-nag behaviour.

Turn off automatic updates.

You could just disable the automatic updates.

Your machine rebooted because you failed to propelry let the already
installed updates finish installing. Malwareish updates?? I guess you can
write better code.

Huh? It wanted to reboot becuase they were finished!

I want automatic critical fixes (naturally), but I don't want Windows
to reboot my computer for me.

I sure as hell can.
