stop (R) being replace by registered logo

I am in Excel trying to type (R) but it will change to a
registered logo automatcially.. how to stop this from
happening?

Type (r) but don't hit enter yet

Use the mouse to move your cursor (the flashing vertical line) in the
formula bar back to the beginning of the line.

Now hit enter, and it should work the way you want.
