Stop Powerpoint asking about updating every single link!

Why in the world does powerpoint ask me about updating every single link? It is not like it actually tells me what file it is talking about updating at the time, which "might" actually be useful in some instance, but it just brings up a nice dialog box asking about every single link in your document. To make matters worse, I assumed that when I changed the link update to manual, and then selected all links from the Edit Menu/Links command and told them to update now, it would actually update them all quietly. But no, instead it asks me again about updating each one! I selected them all and told it to update for a reason, mostly because I wanted it to happen! Please tell me there is some way to avoid this ridiculously annoying program behavior. Thanks

PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking for
without resorting to VBA or add-ins.

PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality (without having to resort to
