In both Office XP and 2003, when I want to draw something, just a line for
example, and I click on the icon, I'm then presented with that ANNOYING box
that says "create your drawing here". I DON'T WANT TO CREATE IT THERE. I
usually want to just draw an arrow, a box around a word, or a line connecting
something to another thing. I don't want my picture to then destroy the
formatting that I created, I don't want it to push the text aside or below, I
just want to simply draw what I want where *I* want. It was possible in
versions up to 2000, why did it suddenly change? I can't find an option to
turn this off and it's REALLY ANNOYING!!

You have posted this message to the wrong news group.
The access in this newsgroup's title refers to Microsoft Access, a
database product.
I would suggest you re- post to the appropriate Word newsgroup.

I don't know if you car turn it off, but you can just ignore it Draw
anywhere you want and it will go away and future use of drawing tools in
that document does not bring up the box. If you to to normal.dot and try
doing that there, then deleting drawing and then save the template ( you
may need to turn off the read only property) maybe that will do what you
want

Sorry. This is the Microsoft Access Database newsgroup. It appears
your question is not related to that database. You are much more likely to
find someone with the answer if you post your question to a newsgroup
devoted to your subject.

To add to what the others said, the 29 Word groups all start with
microsoft.public.word.

You should be able to get an answer in one of those groups.

Good luck.
