I just installed Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2 Basic from a disc that came with the computer. After rebooting the computer, I get a blue screen with this message

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down

And that's it. Everytime. No type of safe mode will work. Not even the last known good configuration. But this was all after installing this program... one I really didn't need. I can't get into the recovery console using a password either, even though I've never had XP set up to have to log in to anything. So, I basically can't load Windows at all... All I can think of is possibly deleting the program through DOS

If anyone knows how to resolve a problem like this, I will be eternally grateful.

On Startup did you try continually tapping F8 and see if you get into a
Menu? You can do a System Restore from Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

You don't need a password to use the Recovery Console if you never
established one. Just ignore the
message and proceed. You could try Fixmbr, FixBoot and Bootcfg. from
there. Also do a chkdsk.

If all else fails you can try a Repair Install.

Roxios website and get all the
XP updates for the 5 version.

I cannot use safe mode. Is there any way I can do a system restore or remove the program with a command following C:WINDOWS> ?

Alright. Thanks for trying your best to help, But I have to make this clear: I cannot enter Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Last Known Good Configuration does not work either. I cannot boot Windows at all. That's the problem. Is there any possible way to remove the program (Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2 Basic) which is causing the problem through a different method... or any other way to perform a System Restore? Thanks.

This is a nasty problem. Not being able to enter Safe Mode rules out most of
the fixes for this problem like System Restore.

The only thing you really have left is to try a repair install, which
requires a retail installation disk. If you have this disk, see Michaels

Alright, thanks... I just talked to someone I know, and he said I'd probably be able to set up the hard drive as a slave with another one and copy all of my files onto the other drive, then format mine. I'll post the outcome.

I'm having the same problem. Have tried repair, and have also tried Charlie White's recovery method but to no avail. Any other suggestions? There is data on the drive we can not lose, so a format is out of the question.
