Stop Deleting My Cell

I use excel 2002 at work and its very frustrating for something (stack of
paper, hand, etc.) to hit a key and, if im not paying attention, change my
cell contents, without my knowledge. Is there any way I can have excel prompt
me before changing the cell contents or deleting them? Kind of like the way
access does? If anyone knows of a command that would be great. Thanks.

The easiest way is to lock all the cells in your workshet and then protect
the worksheet.

It is then nearly impossible or any vile, evil, or destructive elements to
corrupt your cells.

Thank you, that worked, but is there something else that is I wouldnt have to
go in and protect/unprotect everytime I do data entry, as I enter data
constantly throughout the day. Thanks for responding.

Pay attention.

Keep stacks of paper etc. away from the keyboard and only hit keys you wish to
hit.

Otherwise the total locking is the only foolproof way to not change any data.

Excel has no way of knowing what mode of entry made the change so will do as you
have commanded.

It's true that continually protecting and unprotecting is tedious, but it is
pretty effective.

There are even safer alternatives:

1. keep the file closed when not in use
2. keep your computer turned off

The last is the safest, but it does make posting difficult!
