Hello,

Every time I boot up I get a message about a problem with
stisvc.exe which I am supposed to reinstall. I don't have
any idea what this is or where it comes/came from.

It is the Still Image Device Service used for such devices as cameras and scanners. This is
a core component of the OS and I'm not sure how to fix the problem. However, posting the
EXACT worded error message may assist.

I sometimes get a similar message saying "stisvc.exe has generated
errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the
program."

I suspect it's a problem with the Epsom Smart Panel software for my
Epsom Perfection 1250 scanner, which seems somewhat unreliable.
