Stinking AutoComplete nag (nag, nag, nag)

Is there a chance in hell that I tell this bloody thing to go away in IE6?
I intentionally disabled the tickbox at Tools\Internet
Options\Advanced\Browsing\Use inline AutoComplete some time ago, which I've
assumed is what shuts it down to begin with, but IE constantly pesters me
about whether or not I want it on.

After suffering through way too many months of this, I've finally had it and
I simply want this to go away (actually it does amaze me that I've put up
with it THIS long). I have plenty of other reasons to go postal on this
workstation (anemic processor, woeful graphics card, far too little RAM that
the our purchasing budget is willing to fork over for, etc.); I certainly
don't need IE continually adding additional fuel to the fire.

And no, I will not bow down and turn it on; this stupid browser will not win
THIS battle. If only Mozilla worked correctly on a couple of key sites I
need to access often...

Try the following and see it it helps.

Open IE Tools | Internet Options | Content tab | Autocomplete tab - clear
all boxes.
OK - close out. Close IE and reopen.

I'd forgotten doing that part when I posted to start this thread, but yes, I
did clear the tickboxes as Jan's post suggested when I first went down this
road several months ago. And yes, the AutoComplete continues to nag,
regardless of the cleared settings.

Since I had the same issue here on my home XP desktop as well, I went ahead
and tried the registry edit on my home 'puter first. Here at home I just
gave up the fight when this first nag first occurred--the family whined
about dealing with the nag popup too much and I since didn't have a solution
at the time to keep the peace, AutoComplete On here won out. I first cleared
the AutoComplete tickboxes as described in Jan's post, and sure enough the
nag was back. But most excellently, it was not for long.

A VERY sweet, blissfully effective solution, that registry edit; worked
flawlessly on the home XP deskbox. My laptop gets it next. Many thanks for
posting the link to the PC Mag article. When I get into the office
tomorrow, er, I mean later on this morning, I'll add the registry value to
my workstation machine as well. Thanks for making me a (somewhat) happy
camper and removing at least one irritant off my 'Reasons to Sledgehammer
the Frickin' Machine' balance sheet.

I can now go to sleep tonight NOT dreaming about lusting over the many ways
a PC can prematurely meet its demise...(about time I dreamed about something
else).
