Still unable to install Mobile Device Center Beta update

Steve Howard

I have been trying since Friday to install the Mobile Device Center Beta
update through Windows Update. Every time I try it hangs on 0%. I've tried
leaving it as long as 24 hours, but it never progresses beyond 0%.

I have seen one or two other reports of this same problem, but no resolution
anywhere.

Suggestions?

[Update]

So it finally installed today. Not sure what I did different.

So next I get errors on boot - could not fine RAPI.dll, then ceutil.dll.

I located versions of these files and installed them. Now Mobile Device
Center appears to be installed, but does nothing.

I have no doubt that the files I located are files for ActiveSync ... so I
expect that these have been updated for Mobile Device Center. Is there
somewhere where I can get hold of the correct version of these files? Or get
hold of an alternative installer for Mobile Device Center Beta?

I got Beta 2 of the Mobile Device Center to install with no apparent
problems. Now it just won't recognise my Windows Mobile 2003SE device....

Same here.
I have an iPaq H3835 running Windows for PPC 2003. Before the Mobile Device
Center update, Vista would sync files and such but not anything from
Outlook...it just said "Outlook not configured" and didn't give any ability
to configure it! Now I may as well be plugging in a piece of paper for all
the good the update does. It just doesn't see it at all. I have removed
and reinstalled the update.

I've read here that Outlook Beta is not yet containing sync code. A later
update will allow sync.

I've got a Samsung i730 pocket pc phone. Driver won't install. Anyone have
ideas how to set up the driver? What driver to look for? Any tips at all?
