I tried taking out my 3.5 floppy and try the same type from my friends
computer, which is the same model, and it still I receive the same error.

I am trying to use my 3.5 floppy on my IBM 390E laptop, and an error comes up
saying . "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
I recently installed all the updates for my windows 2000, including service
pack 4 and now this problem has arose. Can someone please help me with what
I should do to fix this. When I click, my computer and then A drive it comes
up ok, but when I put a disk in it seems like it is taking a long time to
read and then the error comes up. I also tried different brands of disks
thinkin that this migh have been the problem. If anyone could help this
would be great because it is driving me nuts.

Most likely this is a hardware problem and you should clean your floppy drive
regularly.

Denis
