Just finished 12 workstation changeover from Win98SR2 to XPHome. Fresh
XP install for each workstation and all relevant software for the
agency. On the last machine, I have two applications that run from the
server that are not working right. It takes 40 - 50 seconds to access
these apps and get them running. Even to right click on the desktop icon
takes the same amount of time, just to get to the properties (same
delay again, to read the properties). All other server based apps on
this machine startup with no delay. None of the other workstations
exhibit this problem. All workstations are identical w/XP1800 CPU’s, 512
meg ram and 20 gigabyte hard drives. This network functions very well
with no other problems. I completely reinstalled this quirky workstation
once already, hoping to cure the problem. I’m tired of working
Saturdays. Anyone have any ideas?

Guess:

Open the network connections folder
Select "Advanced Settings" from the Advanced Menu.
On the provider order tab, move "Microsoft Windows Network" to the top of
the list.
