Still have Virtual Memory Problem

D

I keep getting a message saying that my virtual memory is
too low and that Windows will reallocate the paging. My
computer is running very slowly and certain applications
will not respond. I get the message several times per day.

I checked the virtual memory settings in the control panel
as suggested to me here. Everything was set as it should
be (System Paging was checked for all drives), however I
noted something odd:

The first time I checked the total memory allocated to all
drives was noted as 600MB. Drive C had 600MB allocated to
it and "System Management" was checked as "on". Drive F
said the same thing I think. (I have a USB cable connected
to Drive F to upload photos, that's all) I unchecked and
re-checked system memory "On" button for both drives then
restarted my computer, to see if that would somehow clear
the problem.
When I restarted I got the virtual memory low message
again. I checked the settings in the control panel once
again and this time it said that the Total Page Filing
Size for all drives is 381MB, not 600MB as it had before!
It also said that the space available for Drive C is 33244
and the space available for Drive E is 8MB.
Any help much appreciated.
