After reading the KB articles 324767 & 314106 and doing
the steps from those articles I am still getting the 16
bit Windows subsystem error message. I did everything
step by step (except I do not have a Windows install CD
it came installed on my puter) and nothing is helping.
Any other ideas?

We are seeing quite a few posts about this error in the newsgroup
lately. Since you've already tried the Knowledge Base articles, check
your machine for malware. What does a scan with a current antivirus
program (meaning a version not earlier than 2003 using updated virus
definitions) show? Run the scan in Safe Mode.

Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\rundll32.exe in the Open box,
where X is the letter of your CD ROM Drive.
Restart the computer.

Did you read her post? She said she doesn't have the Windows XP install
disk.
