Steps to restore AD

Hello everyone,
Does anyone have any idea on the steps in restoring AD to computer that has
different hardware component than the original computer? That is to say that
I have backup system state of the original domain controllers. But now want
to restore these system state to spare computers.
Would also like to know if anyone has experience in doing so and can share
the experience.

If possible you would be better off restoring the system state to the
original computer and then allowing the dcpromo process to pull across
Active Directory.

If you do a search at http://support.microsoft.com using
NTDSUTIL as the search parameter you will find about 64
articles. One of them is how to do a restore to
dissimilar hardware. Here is the link:

What od you mean by Spare Computers? What is it that you
are trying to accomplish by this? Did a DC crash due to
hardware issues that can not be fixed?
