Status of Updater Application Block?

All:

I am researching options for deploying WinForms applications across
500+- seats.
We are looking to reduce the IT support cost for installing and
updating the application. We can live with an SMS-like initial push
of the application but would like to have udpates to the application
pushed out to client machines with as little IT work as possible.

The two options that spring to mind are

1) ClickOnce - doesn't look like a good option for us as we have a
number of installation requirements (registering document types, 3rd
party controls, et al.) that seem fall outside the guidelines.

2) Updater Application Block (UAB) - seems good except that the MSDN
page for it contains worrying red writing containing phrases like
'decided to archive this content', and
'some of the material is undoubtedly outdated'.

Questions:

What is the current status of the UAB?
Is it still current or has it been replaced by something?
Does it work with the the latest versions of the Enterprise Library?

If it is not current, what other mechanisms are recommended? (As
mentioned, ClickOnce does not seem to be a good fit)

Even if it is current, are there any other options that are worth
investigating?

TIA,
Alan.
