We have machines running XP Pro on a simple peer to peer
network where we want to have each machine start up
without having to take the extra step of selecting an
account. There are two accounts - one administrator, and
a second which limits access. The only reason for the
second is to reduce the risk when connected to the net.
There may be a better way to reduce risk from the
outside, but I'm not aware of any.

Is there a way to set up a default startup account to
avoid having to "choose" upon startup?

Is there a way to give power user capabilities to this
account when on a peer to peer?

Hi Michael,

You can setup a user account to login by doing the following:

Go to the following Microsoft website and download the PowerToy TweakUI:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
After you download and install it you can launch it by going to Start ->
Run -> TweakUI
Click on Logon and then enter the User name you want to automatically login.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Nico,
Thank you for the link - This did take care of the auto
login issue.

Thanks again,

Michael
