Startup User Problem

B

Brian Tozer

When I power on my XP SP2 PC I want it to boot up without any input of User
Name or Password from me.
In trying to achieve this state I think I may have created a problem.
In Start | Settings | Control Panel I have a User Accounts, and a User
Accounts 2.
When I power on I get a screen which says:-
Logon Message
Your account has been disabled.
Please see your system administrator.

I think I may have caused this situation by deleting the Administrator
Account in User Accounts 2.

After selecting OK to the error message I get a new screen which displays
only one User box on the right hand side, which I select and the bootup
process completes.
How do I get from where I am to where I want to be?
I have another similar PC here which behaves as I want, but it is no help to
me in solving the problem.
Can I supply any more info which could be helpful?
Thanks for any help

You don't say where you want to be.

If assuming that you want to enabled the disabled account, and you can't
because the only account you have available to you is a
Limited User account:

1. Reboot and at the Welcome Screen, enter CTRL+ALT+DEL+DEL from the
keyboard (keys not the words)
2. You will see the old Windows Original Logon screen.
3. Type: Administrator
4. If you never gave your original Windows Administrator account a
password, click on OK, else enter the password and click OK
5. You should be in Windows XP as an administrator

To re-enable a disabled account:

1. Click on Administrative Tools | Local Users and Groups (if not present,
Click on Start Menu | Run, type lusrmgr.msc.\, click OK.
2. Click on Users
3. In the right panel, you should see all your users.
5. Double-click on the user you want to change.
6. One of the options in the list, Account is disabled. Make sure that it
is unchecked.
7. Click OK
8. Close Local Users and Groups window.
9. Reboot and login as enabled user.
