Startup Tray question

Mary

In my startup tray, I have TWO icons that say Java TM Platform M, and one
icon that says Quicktime. Do I need these in the startup tray and if not,
how do I get rid of them? I tried the msconfig but they are not listed????

Thanks

As such not required, To quit a tray program by using the tray icon:

Right-click the tray icon you want to remove.
If a menu appears, click Exit or Close.

Remove the Program Shortcut from the Startup Folder

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Startup.
Right-click the program shortcut, and then click Delete.

Check in the program options for a way to tell it not to start. And FYI
it's called the notification area in XP.

Thanks for the info on "notification area". Hmmm, I thought I got rid of
it but it is back already. I told it not to start too.
