How do I get the system configuration utility in Windows
2000 ... I know in Windows XP I go to start, run,
MSCONFIG ... I am looking to disable some items from the
startup menu on this particular PC.

You could try a third-party solution like one of the freewares below:

MSConfig works fine on Windows 2000 when copied from another installation.
You can try Win98 and WinXP versions, see which suits you. All Windows
versions since W95 have the same RUN keys and Start-up folder in Start Menu.
NT just introduces common start and per-user start.

Maybe you should try XP version first.
