startup disk to format c

how do I make a floppy disk to startup so I can format
the c drive I tried to make the ms-dos start up disk from
the format menu that pops up when you right click on the
a drive and choose format but it didn't recognize the
command format c:

I am having the same problem how do i make a boot disk to
format my c drive all help is appreciated please help me.

You can boot with your XP CD (if your BIOS allows booting from CD) and
format C: that way. Check your BIOS settings to see if it allows CD
booting.

If you are installing xp on the drive after format then just insert the xp
cd and follow the onscreen propmts it asks if you want to format the drive.
