my friend was showing another person where the RAM is located on the
motherboard because he wanted new RAM. anyways, he did it correctly and put
the RAM back, he didn't switch or upgrade RAM at all. they go to turn on the
comupter and there are 6 beeps. and i've looked up on google and
microsoft.com and it says its a keyboard chip error. now....what does that
mean? has this happened to anyone?

Something may have been pulled loose. Did the friend use an ESD strap?
It's possible the motherboard was zapped from a static charge.

But most likely, the RAM is not fully seated. After all, that's what
was intentionally removed.

Try swapping keyboards.

Remember, the beep codes differ from one motherboard maker to the next. Make
sure you're decoding the beeps properly.

To centralize your problem call the manufacturer of your computer and ask them for their beep codes when an error occurs. Then you will have a good idea where to look for.

It is most likely that your RAM is either incompatible or not seated properly

Chances are the AGP video card became unseated.

=?Utf-8?B?c2NvdHR5?= You need to know what BIOS is installed to accurately
interpret "beeps" - also there may be a combination "short" and "long"
beeps. - the Phoenix beep code "1-1-3-1", which could be construed as 6
beeps, indicates a problem with the first memory bank - and you mentioned
messing with the memory module was it "seated" properly and in the first
bank???
