can some one tell me how to Speed up Windows XP Bootup and Startup ? actually
i must wating 45 Sec for loading Windows XP. Why is this correct ?

- System : Intel 4 CPU 3.00GHz
VGA : Nvidia FX5200
Memory : 1.00 GB

- Thank you before.

Maybe as a result of other apps that start on bootup.
ie the apps that appear in the task bar.
Use msconfig to stop apps auto starting.
45 sec isnt a long startup time.

Begin troubleshooting by seeing what you have starting up with Windows:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=310353 - How to Perform a
Clean Boot in Windows XP

And here are links where you can a) look up entries you see with
msconfig; b) learn about services in XP:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
http://www.blackviper.com/

After you've done the clean boot and some investigating, if you need
more help post back to this thread with information about what you've
done, results, your computer specs, whether it is on a network, etc.

45-Seconds isn't an abnormal boot-time. Along with Malke's advice
there are just a few additional things to streamline it. One, turn off any
Motherboard devices your setup doesn't use (Serial, Parallel, NIC's).
Also, XP's native IDE controllers will be set to Auto detect for all 4
of the device taps. Set any Master/Slave's that aren't populated to a
setting of "None", so XP won't scan the bus.
Also, if you use Broadband your Router is probably using DHCP to
supply network TCP/IP parameters to your NIC. You can reduce the
initialization time by manually assigning values to the LAC setup.
Finally, Anti-Virus/Firewall software will add some delay to the boot
time along with any other Startups & Watchdogs that run on your PC.
So a look at MSConfig's Startup (Tab) isn't a waste of time. Also, a
number of XP Services that run by default can have their Start Mode
changed (Manual, Disabled).
At best you're only looking at reducing the time by 5-8 seconds so
don't expect major improvements by these suggestions.

XP General is not a "Tweaking" type of Newsgroup.

The Internet has all kinds of Tweak and Tuning sites dedicated
to "Squeezing" extra performance out of XP(?). No two systems
will be the same in regards to performance tuning. Many folks in
General will counsel to not undertake any types of tweaking.

The best advice I can offer is go slowly & by all means have a
Image backup of your System partition. Tweaks can be detrimental
if applied without knowing the effects.

There are different criteria to tweak for Gaming, Multimedia &
other types of PC use and not all are effective. Actually, tweaking
is like Registry editing - Knowing when to stop is the key. Also,
some recommended Tweaks are just plain wrong or Urban legends,
so don't assume that anything you find on a web page is worthwhile.

Just take some time to research and read up on things, but keep in
mind that overall you aren't going to improve things dramatically.

The best place to start is search Microsoft's Knowledge Base with
the search string "Tweaking XP", as below

Only 45 seconds? That isn't bad at all.

My personal view is that the attention many people pay to how
long it takes to boot is unwarranted. Assuming that the speed is
otherwise satisfactory, it may not be worth worrying about. Most
people start their computers once a day or even less frequently.
In the overall scheme of things, even a few minutes to start up
isn't very important. Personally I power on my computer when I
get up in the morning, then go get my coffee. When I come back,
it's done booting. I don't know how long it took to boot and I
don't care.

it really matters to me somehow...
I have to sit and wait for around 10 minutes for my office computer to
bootup.

i don't wanna wait that long, who can help??

thanks.

Well, you can first stop having so many secondary programs run during
startup. 45 seconds for XP is pretty good, 10 minutes on the other hand
isn`t.
