StartServiceCtrlDispatcher() Failed: 1063

Cathy Foster

When I start NetDDE (from Start->Run...) I get a
StartServiceCtrlDispatcher() Failed: 1063 error in the
Event Viewer window.

I'm trying to use the Clipbook/Clipboard viewer across two
computers but the Share... menu item under the File menu
is disabled.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Cathy

What you probably want to type is "net start netdde", but I wouldn't think
you would have to do this manually.

Do you happen to have a dual core cpu or even one with hyperthreading?

I had the same error message with another application and I figured (by searching on the www and reading some threads i didnt really understand :) that it was my dual core cpu which was the prob. I set the application on cpu1 at the task manager and then I could go ahead.

The thing is that I dont know how to tell one application to only use one cpu (core) be4 or while I start it but if there is a possibility to add something to the starting command to tell the application which cpu to use maybe someone else knows what you would have to add.

It´s not much more than a possibility but I thought I share it nevertheless.

If you dont have a cpu with dual core or hyperthreading... nevermind.
