Startmenu XPembedded

Hello,

I am putting a .exe shortcut under \documents and settings\all
users\...\startup\
When I reboot, the program doesn't start. I also tried it under the
user "administrator".
And I have the same result: nothing.

Presently, under "User Core interface" component in Target Designer,
the settings "checked" are the following:
-Show context menu on Shell folders
-Show context menu on Task bar:
-Use Windows Classic folders:
-Enable Drag and Drop on Start Menu:
-Number of programs on Start menu: 0

Is there any relation between the startup folder and the user core
interface settings?

Thank you

Are you using Explorer Shell and WinLogon?

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that Statup menu items
are only processed by Explorer shell.

You could adding them as registry keys to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

For example:

REG_SZ
Value=MyProgram
Data=C:\MyDir\MyProgram.exe

Task Manager shell should execute them.

I already tried that. When I add this registry key, the program starts
but with an error (related to ODBC). Seems that some services aren't
started yet. I also put a timer of 30 sec but I got the same result. It
also does the samething even in XP Pro. The only way to make the .exe
starts correctly under XP Pro is by putting a shortcut in "startup".
And as you know it doesn't work in XP Embedded.

I would like to find out if I really need to change the shell to
explorer to have the "startup" folder processed in XP embedded...

Ok, finally you were right. I tested that and I confirm that we need
the use "explorer shell" to process the items in the startup folder.
