Starting a few day agos, everytime I start my computer
from cold start it goes into the 'check disk for
consistancy mode - this takes about five+ minutes.
Actually it's appears to be the same process that would
happen when you shut off the computer without using the
shut down sequence... I have used system recover but it
does not help... any ideas?
Thanks

Perhaps the disk has gone bad.

When the system is up and running, go to a command prompt and issue the
command

fsutil dirty query c:

Replace c: with the name of your disk drive as necessary.

If it reports dirty, thats why it keeps running.

Check the system event log for any disk or filesystem related errors.

start/run
eventvwr.msc

Click system in left hand pane.
