Starting Win XP without logon screen

Using Win XP on a computer not connected to a network.

We recently had to reinstall (repair) Win XP as part of a computer
upgrade.

The installation is dual boot (Win 98/XP) and prior to this repair,
after choosing Win XP Pro from the inital screen, the computer went
through the startup procedure, the welcome screen displayed without
stopping until the desktop was visible.

Since the upgrade/repair the computer now stops at the Welcome screen
and it's necessary to click a button with the user's name (single user
with Admin privileges).

How can we restore the startup routine so as to bypass this logon
procedure at the Welcome screen?

Thanks
