Startup folder items are simply shortcuts to various programs. Make a
shortcut to the program you want (for example, right-click on the executable
for the program and select Create Shortcut). Cut and paste this into the
Startup folder (or simply drag it onto the Start button, which will open the
Start Menu -- don't let go yet! -- then up the All Programs list to Startup,
then over into the Startup folder itself, and let go of the mouse button).
This will allow you to decide what does and doesn't run
when windows boots up...
All Programs > Run >
Type in "msconfig"
Choose selective startup button
Now click on the "Startup" tap... what you see checked
will run when windows runs.
