Have 2 computers running XP Home. On one when I boot up it goes directly to
my desktop. The other goes to a log in page saying click on person 's name
to log in.
How do I get the one to go directly to my desktop? without logging on?
Thank-You

Hi

If you want to bypass the Welcome screen, try this:

From Start>Run type in

control userpasswords2

then uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer' and click 'Apply'. On the next screen - 'Automatically Log On' -
delete the name 'Administrator' from the User name box and enter your
account name and then the password in the next two boxes. OK your way out
and then reboot your system.

Or you can use Tweak UI:

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Autologon.

Hi Wayne,

Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and
click ok. Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok
and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

You can add the functionality of control userpasswords2 as an applet in
teh control panel by running the edit on Kelly's site, line 2, "Add
ControlUserPasswords2 To Control Panel":
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
