Hello,

when i log into windows vista home premium, all i get is a documents window.
i have to ctrl/alt/del to get the task manager started, then run explorer
from there. any ideas whats wrong? how can i fix it. it's been happening for
a month, i have uninstalled programs that i installed over the period of when
it started but no joy.

If you have System Restore Point created, you could try reverting to that
before you started experiencing this problem. You can also try running a
Antivirus scan to check for viruses or malware in Safe Mode.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

If you go to C:\Users\your username\start menu\startup there should be a
desktop.ini file and Windows Explorer should not be there. If you have no
desktop.ini file there, copy from your Desktop folder to this place. If
Windows Explorer is there, delete it.
